Getting high in the Netherlands

We should be politically correct and say "don't get high", but, if you do want to give it a go, remember two important things: (1) it is legal in the Netherlands and (2) this article has all the tips and tricks you need

As you might know, the consumption of marijuana is legal in the Netherlands. As an interesting fact however, its production is not legalized, rather it is tolerated under the gedoogbeleid policy. Each individual living in the Netherlands is allowed to own and grow a maximum of five plants, considered sufficient for personal consumption. The means by which large amounts of weed get to be sold to the public are not investigated.

In order to buy the weed, get to a coffee shop (coffee shop), which similar to the production of marijuana, is not legal, but tolerated. You will be able to easily purchase what you’re looking for, and do not be alarmed if the bartender begins to ask questions. He will need to know if you have smoked marijuana before so that he can give you something suitable. If you are a novice, he will give you a joint from tobacco and marijuana (mostly tobacco). There is also the possibility of smoking a bong. You will need however to do this in a location specifically designed for smoking, since a new law was recently enforced to force coffee shop owners to separate the space for smokers from that of non-smokers.

If you do not want to smoke, but are looking for some fun and relaxation, you could try the space line. It is not in fact a real line, but more of a line of bakery goods, such as cookies, muffins, cakes and so on, which contain weed and are generically called space cakes. So remember, if your kid sees a space cake in the window of a coffee shop, do not buy it for him.

The prices of the weed items depend on their concentration; a gram of weed generally goes between 4 to 10 euros ($5.8 to $14.5). If ever in Amsterdam, you should try out the Happy Feelings coffee shop, at 51 Kerk Street (Kerkstraat), open every day between 1 PM and 1 AM; you should also know that the minimum order here is of 12 euros ($17.4).
